The problem

Financial crime is winning.
Most defences weren't built to stop it.

Fraud has never been faster, cheaper or better organised. It follows your money into every channel — and the off-the-shelf tools and slide-deck strategies most businesses rely on were never engineered for the threat they face now.

How long a Big-4 engagement takes to hand you a strategy — while the losses keep compounding.Typical engagement

You don't have a strategy problem. You have a defence problem — controls that stop fraud, monitoring that watches every transaction, tracing that follows stolen funds, and security that locks down your platform. That's exactly what we do.

Why firms bring us in

Bank-grade defence,
whatever your size

The big institutions have had financial-crime teams for decades. We bring that same capability to any business that moves money — as a partner, not a headcount.

End-to-end coverage

Prevent, detect, investigate and recover — one partner across the whole financial-crime lifecycle, not four disconnected vendors.

Hardware & software

We look at the whole stack — payment terminals and devices through to your fraud, AML and case-management systems.

We build, not just advise

Detection engineering, monitoring and hands-on controls — engineered and run for your business, not a policy pack off a shelf.

Built on real intelligence

See the risk.
Act on it.

We stand up the monitoring, scoring and case management that turn raw transactions into decisions — tuned to your business, vendor-independent.

Our approach

Across the full
crime lifecycle

Most firms buy these four from four different places. We join them up — so prevention feeds detection, detection feeds investigation, and investigation drives recovery.

01

Prevent

Controls, program design and hardware/software hardening that stop fraud and laundering before they start.

02

Detect

Monitoring, screening and detection tuned to catch real threats with fewer false positives.

03

Investigate

Forensic investigation and case management that produces defensible, decision-ready evidence.

04

Recover

Loss recovery, remediation and regulator response that limit the damage and close the gap.

Who we are

Australia's financial-security & fraud partner

Financial crime doesn't respect the boundaries in an org chart. Security, fraud, engineering and operations each own a piece — and the gaps between them are exactly where the losses happen. We work across all of it, and we build the systems that close those gaps.

We partner with Australian banks, fintechs, payments businesses, exchanges, e-commerce and gaming operators to prevent, detect, investigate and recover — engineering fraud prevention, monitoring, tracing and security, bringing bank-grade capability to businesses of every size across their people, software and hardware. On a retainer, on a project, or on call when an incident hits. We do the lot.

Financial Crime Advisory is a practice of Digital One Agency (ABN 82 307 630 720). Senior specialists only, NDA as standard, and no lock-in on anything we do.

Common questions

Answers, straight

What does Financial Crime Advisory do?

We're an Australian financial-security firm. We engineer and run the systems that stop financial crime — IT and cyber security, fraud prevention, transaction monitoring and tracing, and custom security software — and we investigate and recover when something gets through. We do the lot, across your people, software and hardware.

Who do you work with?

Any Australian business that touches money or crypto: banks and ADIs, fintechs and payment providers, digital-currency and securities exchanges, e-commerce and marketplaces, and gaming, gambling and online-casino operators.

Do you build custom software, or just advise?

We build. Custom fraud engines, transaction-monitoring and tracing systems, detection models and security tooling — engineered for your money flows and integrated with your stack. Advice comes with working software, not a policy pack.

Can you help after a fraud incident has already happened?

Yes. We run forensic fraud investigations, loss recovery, remediation and regulator response — mobilising rapidly when an incident is live.

How do you engage — retainer or project?

Both. Take us on a monthly retainer as an embedded partner, on a fixed-scope project, or on call when an incident hits. No lock-in and no setup fees.

What does it cost?

Senior specialists from $550/hour — no juniors billed at senior rates. Fixed-scope packages start with the Exposure Audit at $8,250, credited toward any follow-on work. No setup fees, no lock-in, and the full pricing is public.

Do you cover hardware as well as software?

Yes. We review the whole stack — payment terminals, POS and ATM hardware for skimming and tampering, through to your fraud, AML and case-management software.

How do you reduce false positives in fraud detection?

By tuning detection properly — risk-segmented thresholds, combining fast rules with machine-learning models, feeding investigation outcomes back as labels, and monitoring for model drift. The goal is high detection with a false-positive rate your team can actually work.

Can you trace and recover stolen or crypto funds?

Yes. We trace funds across accounts, payment rails and blockchains, reconstruct the flow, and build defensible, court-ready evidence to support freezing and recovery — and it's fastest in the first hours after the money moves.

How do you stop account takeover (ATO)?

By defending the whole sequence: phishing-resistant MFA and passkeys, bot and credential-stuffing protection, device and behavioural signals, and detecting the new-device → detail-change → new-payee → payment pattern as one joined-up event.
